I love autumn I really do. Watching the trees change colour, long walks all wrapped up warm, Pumpkins and Halloween! This year Max went trick or treating for the first time so much fun - he really was the cutest little monster. Although he wouldn't let me take his picture grr.

I've been so busy lately working on a series of three books for a publisher in Korea, but now that has concluded. Expect Little Bird Too's etsy and folksy shops to be stocked high with lots of new goodies and Christmas loveliness.

Country Show

We've been very extremely busy in our house this week preparing entries for the local agricultural show. We set them up this evening and the show is tomorrow. Max entered four categories, vegetable animal, paper plate face, decorated cakes and something made out of recycled stuff!!!!

Here they are, the penguins are my favourite - Max was a bit upset when we had to leave them behind :(

I've been really busy working on freelance projects in recent months and this has to have been and still is one of my favourite jobs. I've been producing designs for rubber stamps and this is my first collection for wags and whiskers. Nikki and Lacey are an absolute pleasure to work with and I am absolutely delighted with how they turned out. They've very talented team have been producing some wonderful designs using the stamps and I have to say its been really interesting to see how other people render my little characters.

Handmade Craft Market

Well I survived my first craft market at the Custard Factory in Birmingham. I even made my own little bird too bunting to decorate my stall! It was a lovely sunny day and the people who came were lovely too as were the other stall holders. Francine and Denise who run the market kept us all happy with a constant supply of tea and cake and I met some very talented folksy sellers.

Bodkin and Bead folksy seller Julia makes the most gorgeous hand embroidered items, so so beautiful a real talent! Plus I know she will be delighted to be mentioned on another blog and will be rushing to tell her sister immediately ;)

Salt Dough

We made salt dough this week, it was so much fun :) So easy and not to messy!! To get the colours really vibrant you need to add quite alot of poster paint. We used this recipe

SALT DOUGH RECIPE:
2 cups of Plain Flour
1 cup of table salt
1 cup of water

We put the salt and flour in a bowl and then poured in the poster paint we slowly added the water so as to not make it to sticky. Although extra flour combats this. Need it until soft.

We then baked in the oven at 140 for approx 2 hours!

Tree Hugger

I love trees! My parents live in the Forest of Dean and its such a magical place I always feel inspired and relaxed when I spend time there. So in honour of beautiful trees everywhere I have created some Tree Hugger stationery.

I'm currently adding new stock to my shop and these are the first new designs for 2010. Tea or coffee mini message cards. They make great little casual invitations - pop a note through your neighbours door or hand to a friend. Blue and white for tea. Coffee and cream for - well coffee!!!!

Look what we WON!!! She is called Bean and she is just adorable :) A big thank you to Ai who so generously gave her away on her blog giveaway. Ai makes the most adorable amigurimi toys and sells them here in her folksy shop.

Bean arrived with a little card explaining that she loves dandelion clocks, morning walks and lemon sorbet. We didn't have any lemon sorbet in the house to offer our new house guest,so we decided to take Bean for an afternoon stroll to stretch her legs after such a long journey.

Handmade Halloween Cards With A Twist

I'm hoping to add a range of handmade greetings cards to my Little Bird Too range and thought I would start out with some Halloween creations. These little guys are 5 inch square (12.5cm) and are use original hand printed artwork by me even the tiny envelope is paper printed and designed my me. My spooky little characters are fixed with foam pads for a more 3D effect. Inside the envelope you will find a lovely little surprise as it contains some of my stickers - its fixed with a re-sealable sticker so you can always tuck a little message or monetary gift inside. On sale now in both my etsy and folksy shops. Happy Day!

A Walk To The Post Office

I've decided to give Lulu and Bramble a little makeover and have redesigned these thank you cards. They now come with lovely red envelopes and have rounded corners and pretty little stickers all tied up with red gingham ribbon. They can be personalized too if you prefer them to say something other than thank you.

I love to draw, I really do. Actually its my favourite part of the whole design process I could happily scribble all day everyday (and often do). I have just reached my six year anniversary as a freelance illustrator and I feel so lucky to have a job that I really do love. Creating just makes me so happy, watching characters come alive on the page in front of me can sometimes be so exciting. Recently I've been going through some old sketcbooks and this is some character development I did whilst still at art school.

Her name is Mable Murple and her hair is purple :)

We took off for a few days recently and spent some time with family in Devon. We stayed in a little cottage in the middle of nowhere, ate cream teas, fish and chips and played on the beach it was a much needed break and great to get away. Check out this cat we met selling blueberries by the side of the road and Max had his first kiss.

I'm busy filling the shelves at Little Bird Too at the moment - lots of new things to come but today some new tags and stickers. In a constant battle to improve my photos i've been experimenting with our big windowsill and a spare kitchen tile - I think the black helps the products stand out, I just hope its not too dark.

I also had the nicest feedback from one of my customers this week :) I love my shop its so much fun :) Happy Day!

Apple for the Teacher

I've been adding to my teachers stationery range today with these personalized mini message cards. A great gift I think for any valued teacher!

I've also been working on my product photography and really like the results - I plan to update the rest of the shop with new pictures over the next few days. I think adding props to the pictures really helps. I've also been making some new gift tags with the same little bird image and have hand tied each one with gingham or chiffon ribbon. I love tying ribbon its just so therapeutic.

Oooh! Look what arrived my fabric from spoonflower! I'm so pleased it turned out really well, I was a bit nervous that the colours might not come out as they should having never worked with LAB colours before - but it really is fab. Can't wait to get sewing now and designing more fabrics.

In honour of the fact that School is nearly out I have designed a set of stationery for teachers, which I have just added to my etsy shop. Little Bird has an apple to play with in this one and lots and lots of fun stickers. This little box of stationery can be customized for your favourite teacher too. I've even designed a colour your own greeting card and gift tag which are included in the package.

I'm also trying to improve my product shots and have borrowed my hubby's camera sssshhh!!! Don't tell :)

I discovered this new site last week and YES I've been obsessing about it ever since. Spoonflower is a place where you can print your own designs onto fabric - how cool is that!!!! I have turned one of my little bird designs into a print and now wait with great anticipation for its arrival.
